"they're going to be real impressed, travelers are, it's a great airport. it always has been good but this is more passenger friendly " but looks good is one thing and more functional is another. the next round of airport construction will focus on making traffic inside flow better. the

greatly expand with some of the space coming by reducing the size of this "outside" bar and restaurant. airport leaders say passengers now spend much more time in boarding areas past security so this space will grow significantly with more food and drink service choices next to airline gates. of highway 100 in cedar rapids means closing part of edgewood road northeast tonight. workers will put down pavement markings on the edgewood bridge over highway 100. that requires about two a-m. and traffic should be normal tomorrow morning. the d-o-t advises that drivers use blairs ferry and collins roads as well as 42nd street. the d-o-t now plans to open the new section of highway 100 sometime in mid- december. low gas prices and a challenging economy. that's why megabus is shutting down its service to coralville. the company is reducing its operations in chicago, and

temperatures. wind: w 20-40. high: 62 bruce and beth... in a kcrg t-v nine update... today a judge sentenced a homeless man to another 50 years in prison. a jury previously convicted murder . that earned him his first 50 year prison sentence. he killed two homeless people in cedar rapids just days apart in september of last year. police say he first killed raymond ursino after the two got into a fight in downtown. authorities let him go when the linn county attorney did not file charges, citing a lack of evidence. but just days later, he killed sharon mead near the coe college campus. the first african american to become a linn county supervisor took the oath of office today.

stacey walker is the newest member of the board. kevin mckeever, the first african american district court judge in iowa, swore in walker this morning at the linn county public service center. walker used a bible that belonged to his grandmother. he called this a tremendous experience. " i was overcome with emotion. afterwards when it all kind of set in and it's a wonderful thing, a sign of the progress of to the opportunity to serve. " linda langston resigned her seat as a linn county supervisor earlier this year. president elect donald trump continues to prepare for his new job by holding meetings today at trump tower. he met with south carolina governor nikki haley... former secretary of state henry kissinger... and the prime minister from japan.

" gov. mike pence - "we're going to move an agenda that's going to rebuild our military, revive our economy." pence also met with nancy pelosi, the current democratic leader in the house, whom he called "a worthy opponent." president obama keeps getting questions continues his final trip overseas as head of state. "i don't expect the president- elect will follow exactly our blueprint or our approach, but my hope is he does not simply take a realpolitik approach and suggest we cut some deals with russia, even if it hurts people." the president made the comments

berlin, germany. students at kennedy high school in cedar rapids face unexcused absences for walking out of class today to emphasize unity while also protesting trump. "we love all" the students marched down 42nd street until they reached edgewood road. they carried flags and banners, chanting "we love all." while some of say their message was more about unity. this comes after similar protests across the country and in iowa city in the past week. the iowa racing and gaming commission is taking a step forward as it looks at whether cedar rapids should get a casino. we look at why they're setting up an application process for interested parties.

and because of that the iowa racing and gaming commission... .... set up a time table for receiving and reviewing casino applications. also during its meeting today, the commission set up a process for hiring a consultant to do a market survey. the casino group, wild rose, has partnered with the newly formed non-profit, cedar river alliance for gaming, to build a boutique casino in downtown cedar rapids. but one should count out the group that's worked toward building a casino for the last two years. " but that doesn't mean the current group, the cedar rapids development group, hasn't been doing some work. there have been communities where the racing and gaming commission had to choose between different proposals and that might be the case now.
